Grouse Malting: All About the Why

Featured Millet Image

After winning second place in the Monfort College/UNC Entrepreneur Challenge(!!!), it was all hands on deck to cherry out the malting and roasting equipment and begin production. Grouse is up and running, 24/7. Yes, you heard me right, 24 hours a day, every day. This means a few things:

I should expect Nunn residents who are looking out for their neighborhood to come check in on the malt house at 3 am and ask, why, on earth, are you awake, singing Talking Heads tunes at the top of your lungs, and gleefully adjusting gismos and gadgets connected to a stainless steel tank?

This is not because I love a challenge or am a masochist (yes to the first, no to the later). This is Simon Sinek’s why. Grouse was founded because of the belief everyone should have access to variety of high-quality food and beverages regardless of allergies or intolerances. We’re here to help make that happen. Here’s to the battle cry to fulfill that why- Gluten-Free Malt or Bust!
